Dhul-Qarnayn continued his journey towards the mountains, until he came across a settled land that is said that to be part of China today. There, he met people who spoke a strange language that almost no one could understood, except his translators. These people complained about Gog and Magog. They said that Gog and Magog were strong tribes doing every known sin; hurting and harming each other. They were characterised with huge bodies, round faces, small eyes and black hair with a reddish tint. Dhul-Qarnayn was told that these tribes are able to breed rapidly.
These people lived in a valley in-between two mountains; with only one exit. The residents of that land asked Dhul-Qarnayn to build a barrier (a dam) between them and Gog and Magog to isolate them. Dhul-Qarnayn wanted the people to be active and useful in their community so he asked them to help him in building the dam, regardless of his huge and powerful army. He asked the people to collect pieces of iron. He cut those pieces and placed them on the top of each other until it became as high as the near mountains. Then he asked people to light a massive fire beneath the iron and when it started to melt, he add melted copper to strengthen the mixture and to protect it from rust and corrosion.
Dhul-Qarnayn built up the dam many times to make sure it was strong enough, to lock in Gog and Magog, who were isolated behind it, in order to protect others from their acts of violence. Regardless of his great achievement, Dhul-Qarnayn didn’t feel pride and remained humbled, referring all the power and authority he had to Allah’s blessings.
Gog and Magog kept trying to demolish or to jump over the dam made by Dhul-Qarnayn but they failed to do so. Until today, the tribes of Gog and Magog still keep growing and trying to demolish the dam, so that they can break out and destroy the Earth. Scholars says that ever since Gog and Magog dug the dam trying to escape it, they get tired. Scholars say they will return the following day to continue digging, but when they come back the next day they find out that it has been closed again. This will keep happening until one of them says, “we will come back to continue digging Insha’Allah.” When it happens, Allah, The Almighty, will allow them to success in their mission to demolish the dam. When this happens, Gog and Magog will spread all over the land, destroying everything and killing everyone who doesn’t follow them. The Prophet Mohammed, Peace be Upon Him, said that this might happen after the return of Jesus, Peace be Upon Him, who will take those who believe in God to hide on the summit of Palestine’s mountains. Gog and Magog will chase those Muslims on the road. They will stop to drink water from the Lake of Tiberias, which will be left dry due to the enormous numbers of Gog and Magog’s armies.
When Gog and Magog arrive in the Levant, they will kill everyone who does not follow them. This will give them a huge sense of pride so they will start to throw their spears at the sky to kill anyone who might be there while saying, “we have killed people of the Earth; so let’s kill the people of the sky.” Allah, The Almighty, will return their spears full of blood to increase their arrogance. Then Gog and Magog will surround Jesus, Peace be Upon Him, and those who follow him until they look for food, so they will raise their hands praying to God to save their lives. Allah the Almighty will accept their prayers, and will send small kinds of worms to kill Gog and Magog by eating their brains and veins until they all become dead at the same time.
After the death of Gog and Magog, believers will come down from the mountains, where the Earth is full of dead bodies that smell so bad no one can live there. So they will pray again to God to help them. Allah will accept their prayers again by sending huge birds to carry these bodies away, and then send heavy rains to clean out the Earth of all the pollution. The Earth will then become clean and pristine. The lands will bloom and flourish with prosperity keeping no one in need or poverty anymore. Mankind will share one piece of fruit due to its great size, then life will continue as long as God wills it until the arrival of The Day of Judgment.
