UAE flag made with mosaic – 2021

An outstanding piece of UAE flag made of mosaic was added to the Guinness World Records under ‘Nefsy’s’ initiative during the 49th UAE National Day. The flag was made up of cards which included the phrase 'Don't Worry'. The cards had been given to needy families as part of a charitable campaign organised by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department. The mosaic piece, measuring 498.3 sqm, was created and placed at the courtyard of the Police Academy in Al Wasl district.

‘Longest Flag in the World’ and ‘Most People Carrying a Flag’ – 2019

Dubai Police achieved a new accomplishment to be added to the UAE’s record of achievements by breaking the two records ‘Longest Flag in the World’ and ‘Most number of People Carrying a Flag’. The flag was 2020 m long (2 km and 2 m), and it was held by 5,000 people from 58 nationalities.

Largest flag hoisted on a fixed flagpole – 2017

In 2017, the UAE flag raised in Sharjah’s Flag Island entered the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest flag hoisted on a fixed flagpole. Measuring 70 metres in length and 35 metres in width, the flag was inaugurated on Flag Day, coinciding with the anniversary of the accession of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Presidency of the UAE.

143 cars to shape the flag– 2017

The Dubai Police received certificates from Guinness World Records for forming the largest UAE flag using 143 cars. This was part of the UAE’s 46th National Day celebrations, with the participation of 17 car clubs and teams.

Largest human transforming image and human gathering – 2016

The UAE flag entered the Guinness World Records in 2016 for the largest human transforming image in the shape of the UAE flag. This was a part of the UAE’s 45th National Day celebrations and saw the participation of over 2,223 GEMS Education students around the UAE. In the same year, the UAE broke the Guinness World Record for having the biggest flag formed by humans. The major event included 3,929 people who wore safety helmets and lined up across the Baniyas Club Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Palestinian embroidery - 2015

The UAE flag entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest flag produced using Palestinian hand embroidery. The flag was 36 m in height and 18 m in width and weighed over half a tonne of silk. It was made by a number of Palestinian men and women.

One million pencils – 2014

The General Directorate of Civil Defense achieved a new Guinness World Record, by forming the world’s largest flag made of pencils. Coinciding with the celebrations of the 43rd UAE National Day, the UAE flag was displayed in the courtyard of the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. The students participating in the initiative used 1 million pencils, 250,000 for each of the flag’s colours. The flag stretched over 1,000 square metres.

Mosaic - 2013

The UAE flag entered the Guinness World Records as the largest mosaic in the world made up of marble pieces. The undersea mosaic was executed over an area of ​​168 square metres and in a record time of 4 hours, in cooperation among several organisations in Dubai.

Largest flag – 2009

The largest UAE flag was recorded in the Guinness World Records in 2009. The flag was made in cooperation between Cedar International and the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey. The flag stretched over 22,814 square metres (around a quarter of a million square feet), with a height of 208 metres and a width of 109 metres. It was the size of 4 football fields, and weighed 4,254 kilogrammes.
