I would like to congratulate the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on the launch of Expo 2020 Dubai, the world’s largest event. It reflects the UAE’s success in becoming one of the first countries to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. It sends a reassuring message to the world that the UAE, the land of opportunities and dreams, can turn challenges into promising opportunities. This is because we have a wise leadership with a forward-looking vision, strong willpower, and sincere efforts from a generous nation. We are confident that Expo 2020 Dubai will achieve the success that befits the UAE and will become a global platform that contributes to developing innovative solutions for current and future global challenges with its theme ‘Connecting minds, creating the future’.
As the official sustainable energy partner for Expo 2020 Dubai, DEWA has allocated AED 4.26 billion to supply the world-class event with electricity and water as well as supporting its electricity and water infrastructure projects using the latest smart systems. We are applying all our efforts, expertise, and capabilities to achieve the vision of our wise leadership to host the best World Expo in its history and make the experience of Dubai visitors unforgettable.
I urge you all to visit DEWA’s pavilion, which highlights our innovative projects and initiatives, especially in renewable and clean energy and using Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to disrupt the entire business of public utilities and become the world’s first digital utility.

World Expos are one of the oldest and largest international events on the planet, taking place every five years and lasting six months. It is a festival for all, where everyone can experience, explore, innovate and have fun by sharing ideas and working together.
Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first World Expo ever hosted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region. Through our theme of Connecting Minds, Creating the Future, we aim to host a World Expo that inspires people by showcasing the best examples of collaboration, innovation and cooperation from around the world.
There will be more than 200 participants including nations, multilateral organisations, businesses and educational institutions. To date, 192 nations from across the world have confirmed their participation at Expo 2020.
DEWA is proud to be the Official Sustainable Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai and will provide this global event with electricity and water from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, excluding the electricity that will be generated on-site.
